At the December Executive Meeting the Executive voted to contribute $1000.00 to the CAUT Academic Freedom Fund.  "CAUT Council established the CAUT Academic Freedom Fund to aid local associations and CAUT in vigorous defence of academic freedom. The Fund is a "catastrophic insurance" plan to guarantee sufficient resources for any local association or CAUT to sustain defence of academic freedom when a case takes extraordinary resources."  Total donations from member associations may be found at http://www.caut.ca/pages.asp?page=364

The Executive also unamiously supported a $200.00 conation to the Nipissing University Transition House, through the Office of Student Development and Services, in memory of Georgia Lyons who died tragically this past November.  The university raised a total of $600.00 for this cause to which Georgia was dedicated.  So many of the faculty valued Georgia`s contributions to students` success and her humanity in dealing with all students, especially the international students.  It was no surprise to many of us that she also gave selflessly to other community causes as well.
