About NUFA
Welcome to the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) website. We represent 165 full-time faculty and approximately 190 part-time instructors at Nipissing University per term.
We are organized into two bargaining units, the Full-time Academic Staff Bargaining Unit (FASBU) and the Contract Academic Staff Bargaining Unit (CASBU) which consists of part-time faculty teaching on-campus and online, and including instructors in Indigenous Education Programs, ABQ instructors, Clinical Instructors, Practical Instructors and Course Facilitators. We negotiate separate collective agreements but share a common finance and grievance system.
Besides negotiating collective agreements, doing research, improving salaries and working conditions of faculty, NUFA offers members advice in the event that they have a dispute with the employer, investigates complaints against the employer, and acts on members’ behalf in resolving grievances.
NUFA proudly represents faculty interests through participation in the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) and the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA). All members receive copies of their publications, CAUT Bulletin, OCUFA Reports and Academic Matters, as well as University Affairs, which address issues of interest to faculty members at the local, provincial and national levels.
We acknowledge that we are in the territory of the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850 and that the land on which we gather is the Nipissing First Nation Traditional Territory and the traditional territory of the Anishnabek. We respect and are grateful to be on these lands with all our relations.
